Heyy I just got a scholarship to a dance school in Europe and I'll be dancing there professionally starting in September! I just wanted your talented followers to know ill give them great advice and tips to help them achieve their dreams!
Congratulations!!!! That is SO awesome! I hope you have tons of fun and I want to hear all about it :)
I cant decide if I should continue with pointe, I need your help! So, I just started this year, and did enjoy it. But this year is different, and continuing with pointe has its downside. 1) Its ruining my feet 2) My mom cant afford for me to take as many classes 3) I know I probably wont be a professional because of my skill level, nor do I have a strong desire 4) it would interfer with my job but I dont want to disappoint my classmates&teacher, what should I do!?
If you really like it, do it! If your worried about your feet, don’t worry! Your feet will become ugly, but stronger :P Maybe you could help your mom pay for classes since you have a job? Good luck :)
i really want to be a professional (in hip hop) dancer but i started dancing less than a year ago and im 17 which is kind of late to start dancing.. the thing is i can dance pretty good and i have my groove and all but i dont have any technique and im trying to work on it but i think its a little to late to start and i dont know if i should keep working hard for it because i dont know if i will ever be good enough to be a professional.. what do you think?
I don’t think it is too late at all! But you have to be willing to work very hard :)
I just wanted to say I LOVE this blog. I only found it today and I've been looking through it forever lol. I think it's such a great way for everyone to vent or express their views or opinions on how much they've grown as dancers. (:
I Love dance with all my heart but I can't find a Dance school or camp in Delaware. So I use youtube to learn new things,I dance on my own and i've had only 3 years of actual teaching and that was 2 years ago at my school's afterschool program but now that I am older it is not available to me anymore. Do you know any places I can try? Please, and thank you for reading^^
Google some places that may be around your area, or ask people you know if there are any places near by! Go in and check them out, and some places will offer a trial class :)
Hi! I'm teaching a 45 minute jazz class to 6-8 year olds tomorrow and I was wondering if you have any ideas of what I should do with them? They're learning basic things, like ponies and gallops but I'm not sure about what's their level. Any ideas would be great :)
Whoops, meant to answer this earlier! Play lots of games like Simon Says with different movements, etc. They love those! If anyone else has any ideas, please post!
i quit ballet when i was 8 but i really want to join again, i've been doing jazz, lyrical, and tap but when i look at all my friends that were in my ballet class with me and the ones who didn't quit they all look so much better than i can ever be. do you think its a good idea for me to join again??
If you really want to do it, I would go for it! It may take you a while to catch up to the other girls, but if you work hard at it, it will pay off in the end!
I need your advice, please! I'm a dancer taking many hours of dance a week, competing, and going for a career. In jazz, hip hop etc. I get solos and the teachers likes me a lot, but they're not treating me unfair. My ballet teacher though, loves me, and shows favoritism towards me all the time and gives me way more attention than the others in class. I appreciate it, but I know that the other girls dislike me A LOT because of that. I try to be as humble as possible, but I don't know what to do?!
Being humble and grateful for your opportunities is always good thing, so don’t stop that! Don’t be afraid to tell the other dancers that you think they are good, or that they looked great in their dance. Compliments always help! I’m not a competition dancer, so I’m not sure how they work, but if you wanted to, maybe you could ask your teacher if you could skip doing a solo for one of the competitions to give another person a chance if they would allow it :)
I just needed to get this off my chest. My mom told me a few months ago that I could compete in three routines for the 2013 season. Now because of financial problems, I had to miss nationals and my mom says that if I'm lucky I'll be able to compete in 1 or 2. I think I might just tell her I'm quitting dance. I feel like I'm just burdening my family, and I will never be able to open a studio anyway like I want to if I only do one dance class/dance... I guess it just wasn't meant to be...
If you really really love dance, I would still continue at least taking classes, even if it is only a couple a week!
