I'm nearly 13 and sometimes I just want to dance ballet like those girls (e.g. on tumblr). But I don't have enough time and I'm insecure about my legs, because I play soccer for 4 years no. What can I do?
Give it a try! Don’t worry about what you look like. Anyone that wants to dance can dance. Just take some classes and see if you like it. If you like it, continue it :)
Hello dancers! So sorry about being away for so long. I’ve just gotten a new job so I’ve been pretty busy. For organization purposes, I’m deleting the confessions that are in the ask box right now. If yours wasn’t made please feel free to submit again. Also, I am looking for 2-3 people that are willing to help out with the blog. If you are interested, message me and I will send you an application. And also, thank you thank you thank you to all 3,057 followers! I never thought this blog would be such a big hit. I have loved reading all of your stories :)
Could you help me get the word out? My dance team (Marquette Catholic in Alton, IL) is collecting gently used dance wear to donate to an studio who lost everything in the recent Oklahoma tornados. We're collecting until June 1st. People can message me if they want to help. Thanks!!!
to become a ballet/dance teacher do you have to become a professional dancer?
AHahaha on:) Not at all. Just have dance experience. I mean, some professionals may become teachers when they retire, but the majority have their BA or their BFA from college. At least, degrees are required for schools. The teachers in my town are all still college kids that have been dancing their whole lives. (like upperclassmen and graduate students). In my town, anyway. But no, it is in no way required that you have to become professional. Just know how to teach and dance and choreograph.
Everyone complains about no being flexible, I can't even touch my damn toes. So please, tell me about how not flexible you are.
Uuuuuuuh. I’m going to assume this was a question. Yeah, I’m not flexible at all. I can’t even hold my leg at 90 degrees. I’m more than a foot off the floor in my splits (which I almost finally had 2 years ago but didn’t stretch one time which is all it takes, pulled the muscle and yeah) which means I can’t do any leg hold turns and none of the pretty leg holds. Never did well at competitions, never placed. BUT I can touch my toes when I bend down. #atleastIhavethat
